Job Overview
A cook prepares, seasons, and cooks a variety of Mediterranean foods, including salads, entrees, and meals while adhering to recipe, portion, and sanitation standards. They are responsible for setting up workstations, maintaining kitchen equipment, ensuring food safety (HACCP), and managing inventory to provide a high-quality dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Food Preparation:Slice, cut, chop, marinate, and cook ingredients using grills, ovens, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.
- Menu Execution:Prepare dishes according to recipes, plating guides, and guest requests while ensuring proper temperature and taste.
- Sanitation & Safety:Clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, and equipment; maintain food safety logs and proper food storage temperatures.
- Inventory Management:Monitor food supplies, restock stations, and report shortages to supervisors.
- Teamwork:Assist other kitchen staff to ensure timely, efficient service during busy shifts.
Requirements and Skills
- Experience:Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role.
- Culinary Knowledge:Proficiency with various cooking techniques and equipment.
- Health & Safety:Deep understanding of food hygiene, sanitation, and safety regulations.
- Physical Stamina:Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (often 20+20+ kg), and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications:Valid food handler’s certificate or equivalent, depending on local regulations Is an asset
